The Quadra Granville Seniors Group and the South Granville Seniors Centre are sponsoring a free forum on Seniors Social Isolation. Social isolation and loneliness has been identified as a major concern in our society causing significant negative effects on health, health care costs and personal well-being.

Eddy Elmer, Vancouver Seniors Advisory Committee, who holds a Masters Degree in Gerontology and is a PhD student at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, will speak about his research into social isolation and loneliness among seniors. Reference will be made to his newly released, extensive report on this topic including recommendations which could be implemented by all levels of government and the community to reduce social isolation and loneliness among seniors.
Representatives of the federal, provincial and city governments have been invited.
Round Table Discussions
The presentations will be followed by smaller round table groups where the audience can share their views and discuss methods to address the problem.
